Colloquialisms: The Torch, Lucy, The Iron Canyons
Corporate Sigil: Three main iterations. Original logo was designed to give an impression that corporation is much older than it is with an oil light and pickaxes. Later on main corporation logo stayed the same yet Division Logos were more known. Later on Corporation changed their main logo to a star merged with a triangle with neon colors.
Lucerna is the brutal, beating heart of the Martian terraforming and colonization effort. While other factions concern themselves with the aesthetics of biology or the politics of Earth, Lucerna’s domain is the unforgiving calculus of thermodynamics, structural integrity, and megawatt yields. They are the wardens of the primary heat sinks and the custodians of the artificial gravity wells. Without Lucerna’s constant, percussive maintenance, the atmospheric processors would freeze, the fusion cores would breach containment, and the Martian colonies would succumb to the vacuum in a matter of hours.
1. Planetary Holdings & Infrastructure
Lucerna’s territory is a brutalist expanse of high-tensile steel, reinforced silicate-glass, and exposed conduits, officially spanning Sectors 4 through 9.
- The Iron Canyons: The high-density hab-blocks where the Lucerna workforce resides. These towering, utilitarian structures prioritize spatial efficiency and thermal retention over comfort.
- The Subspace Cooling Towers: Massive geothermal heat exchangers that vent the lethal thermal byproduct of the city’s fission relays.
- Transit Hubs: A sprawling network of high-velocity mag-lev trains that transport the labor force across the sector boundaries. The platforms are notoriously saturated with the smell of ozone, vaporized industrial lubricants, and recycled sweat.
2. Corporate Hierarchy & Divisions
Lucerna operates less like a traditional corporation and more like a feudal industrial syndicate, bound by strict production quotas and rigid caste structures.
- The Maintenance Division: The backbone of the corporation. These are the field technicians and mechanics dispatched to diagnose and patch failing life-support grids, pressure seal micro-fractures, and misaligned magnetic bearings.
- Heavy Machinery Division: Tasked with exterior hull welding, regolith excavation, and massive structural overhauls. Operators in this division routinely face the lethal exterior environment.
- Lucerna HR & Biometrics: A subtle, insidious branch of corporate oversight. They monitor the physiological data of the workforce to maximize output.
3. Demographics & Culture
The people of Lucerna are primarily debt-exiles—citizens of Earth’s North American Trade Zone (NATZ) whose “Financial Solvency Scores” decayed past permissible thresholds. They were deported from Earth under “Off-World Development Opportunities”.
- The Gray Polymer: The standard-issue uniform is a heavy, fire-retardant polymer weave in muted gray. It is a symbol of their caste, invariably stained with oxidized carbon and synthetic oils.
- Dietary Logistics: To maximize efficiency, Lucerna feeds its lower-tier workforce via nutrient-sludge dispensers. The resulting “synth-paste” provides optimal caloric and vitamin intake but tastes uniformly of beige paste.
4. Factional Relations
- Viridis (The Grocer / The Branches): The relationship between Lucerna and Viridis is marked by deep, tectonic resentment. Lucerna views the Viridis bio-engineers as arrogant, fragile elitists who rely on Lucerna’s heavy engineering to survive but treat the mechanics like hazardous contaminants. Viridis controls the oxygen supply; Lucerna controls the power. It is a mutually assured, deeply hostile symbiosis.
- Earth Alliance Forces (EAF): Lucerna management bows to EAF quotas, but the rank-and-file workers view Earth with a mixture of bitter nostalgia and outright disdain.
